The announcement today of investment by Jaguar Land Rover to create 800 jobs in Solihull was welcomed by West Midlands Conservative MEP Malcolm Harbour.
He said: "This represents a huge vote of confidence for the skills and the hard-working outlook of the West Midlands people.
"Equally it is a vote of confidence for the single market and Britain's place in it.
"As chairman of the European Parliament's Single Market Committee I know what a powerful magnet access to the market can be for attracting strategic investment and creating high-skill, high-value jobs.
Mr Harbour, a former motor-industry  executive with vast experience of the sector, concluded: "This is a good day for the West Midlands, for the UK motor industry and for Europe too."
