Conservative Employment spokesman Anthea McIntyre has today launched a key report on the importance of "re-shoring", bringing jobs back to Britain.

Since 2003, up to 50% of Western European manufacturing companies have moved part of their production overseas, according to EU figures.

Miss McIntyre's report investigates measures that can be taken to bring jobs back to Europe, boosting the continent's jobs and growth.

These include clear, simple regulations, reduced red tape, a flexible labour market and lower taxes, which could help around 60% of companies restore back to Europe.

Miss McIntyre commented: "I'm delighted to be launching this report which clearly sets out what should be done to boost employment in Europe, including in the UK.

"Re-shoring should be Europe's employment success story of the next ten years.

"Not only will new employment opportunities be created, but jobs which have left Europe for a more friendly business environment will return home.

The West Midlands MEP added: "As policy makers we all have a responsibility to ensure that Europe is open for business and that we get Europe back working"
