Malcolm Harbour MEP, Conservative Chairman of the European Parliament’s internal market committee and MEP for the West Midlands region, has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by the Queen for services to the UK economy.

He was warmly congratulated by fellow MEPs.

Mr Harbour said: “It is a great privilege to become a CBE in recognition of my services to the UK economy.

“This honour underlines the central role that MEPs can play in helping British business to take maximum advantage of the EU Single Market.

“I would like to thank my family, my colleagues and all those who have supported and encouraged me in my European political work over the last 13 years, and in my preceding 32 years in the Midlands motor industry.

"I shall continue to promote the West Midlands to the best of my ability.”
